Networking is Essential!!! Success is all in "who you know"!

'WHO you know will get you in....but WHAT you know will keep you there!" If you want Success you cannot be scared to open your mouth. Don't be that shadow in the back of the room that's just looking and lurking because a closed mouth will never get fed.


Don't know where to begin??? It's simple! Smile, shake hands, compliment, then introduce yourself. A smile is Welcoming and the compliment eases tension and brings the other person's guard down. The rest is all fluff until you find some common conversational ground or discover that you both know someone mutually lol. Make a lasting first impression and BAM...that's all to it! Just don't be afraid and timid, people can see right through you when you are nervous. Confidence goes a long ways. Even you are not about sh*t you can sale that bulls*t to someone else because your strong belief system has convinced them that there is some value in what you possess lol. People do this all the time! You ever heard the term: "Fake it til you make it"...welp that's where it's derived from.




Ok so this past weekend I had the pleasure of attending the "Girlz who run the World" Networking Gala hosted by Pavor Snips or Sassy Snips Consulting. I went with one of my favorite Diva's, Marquita Bianca (CEO of Leglovers Inc.)and we had a great time over margarita's and jazz. We enjoyed ourselves and most importantly made some awesome connections!
Ok well now that you have networked, what to do now? Well first you have to remember this...No connection is too big or too small. Don't be intimated by the resume of a person that you think is out of your professional league because they maybe willing to assist you in some way shape or form. Secondly don't disregard the "small" people because you never know who they know! You ever heard of the 5degrees of separation? Basically it's when you meet somebody---that knows somebody---that knows somebody--who knows somebody else. You never know WHO somebody knows so every connection is essential. While you are fresh in their minds, contact them the next day via email or social site and just say thanks for the connection.

Your done! Those simple steps often lead to meaningful relationships down the line and doing this you will quickly see why Networking is Essential.

It's such a blessing to have real friends and genuine supporters.

I recognize this as a blessing because many people don't have the pleasure of being surrounded by people that sincerely want to see them succeed. You are what you attract. You want support? Support others. You want real friends? BE a real friend.






I must say that I'm lucky to have a group of women that I consider real and true around me as I travel this journey and I'm with them as they travel theirs. Some people talk the talk but these ladies walk the walk! What I love the most about my ladies is that I don't even have to personally ask them to come out, support and do nothing for me...they are always just there! I'm blown away sometimes because they bring me to tears with the amount of love that they show. I appreciate all of them and love them like Sisters:)

I don't worry about things I can't change

I really don't care whats going on around me, I don't care what bills are due... I always find a way to focus on peace of mind. I find time to take care of Vee. People often ask me "V, why are you always so upbeat and joyful?"

Honestly it's a mind frame. Everything starts with your thinking. I'm good at not giving a damn LOL and I'm not saying that in a negative way. I'm saying I don't let things I can't change stress me out. I mean why would u??? Especially when u can't do nothing about your situation for the time being. When I can't change it, it becomes a Non-Factor in my mind. That's how I'm able to keep a smile on my face because I don't carry the weight of the world around on my shoulders!

Sisters and brothers you have to stop doing that. It won't kill you to be happy sometimes. Don't walk around bitter, be grateful because if you have nothing else...You still have LIFE and that alone is worth smiling for :)

We may not always understand why things happen but please believe that it is happening for a good reason. What doesn't kill you is designed to make you tougher, stronger, and wiser! Everyday is not going to be glorious sunshine but if you can weather the thunderstorms then you will better appreciate the warmth of the sun-rays.

People can't take the bullsh*t they dish out. A dose of your own Medicine doesn't taste to good.

When you are constantly on the giving end of B.S. you don't feel the jabs, the gut punches and the wounds that you are dishing out. You can't see yourself. It's not until someone holds a mirror in front of you and put you on the receiving end of f*ckery that you suddenly find room to be "offended". Hmmmmm. How can you even be offended when you are always the one being inconsiderate of others feelings? You ever heard the saying "Do unto others what you want done unto you? Has that gone out the window? Don't you know that everything in life comes back around full circle?

Men are notorious for this. They feel like they can get away with doing and saying anything and you are suppose you just be there to either overlook or forgive and forget. Ladies start giving them a dose of their own medicine. You can't be nice all the time...sometimes you gotta be "Nice Nasty" for a nigg to take you serious. If they don't like it then so be it! Your not a door mat for people to just walk all over you. If you don't stand up for you then don't expect noone else to!

ok I have been getting alot of request for this outfit I wore for this photo shoot so I want to share with you all on how it can be yours.

The key to a good photo shoot is simply "not to over think it". Less is more. Skin is In but there's a fine line between sexy and trashy. If you are not fortunate enough to have a stylist, a makeup artist, an assistant and a photographer that can actually pose you then do the minimum and you can still produce star quality photos.

Ok so how did I create this look?
1. The corset: you can log into ebay, type in corset and chose the cheapest one you see, it's simply as that:) They are 'one size fits all' and have adjustable strings in the back so you don't have to worry about sizing. You can get brand new ones for as little as .99 cents shipping straight from China where they are all made at anyway. (Cut out the middle man LOL).

2. The fish net Dress: I have on a very simply black fishnet dress under my corset that can be purchased for under $20 at any adult novelty shop.

3. The Shorts: I have on some very simply Black Boy shorts that u can purchase anywhere but I'm sure you have some at home anyway:)

4. The Accessories: Ok here is where the fun comes in! You can spice up this look anyway you want to and you can't possibly go wrong. I suggest bold, chunky statement pieces that command attention. You don't want your accessories to go unnoticed.

The key is making every piece on you Stand Out but remain cohesive together. This is a very easy look that has become artwork in our home:)

What's Up wit VEE?

I decided to step out with my fellow entrepreneur DIVAS this weekend and relax, man o man did we enjoy ourselves. It's always fun to step out with your ladies and simply enjoy a night on the town. Noooooo clubbing though. Clubbing gets played out quickly and how many meaningful relationship do you really make in the club? Ok anyway so we first stopped past a birthday party for a photographer friend of ours and had a few drinks. A few drinks was all I needed because after that I was ready to cut up LOL. We dipped out of there and hit up the Funny Bone to see Charlie Murphy.

This is where the night got a little interesting. Ok where do I start? First off I wasn't really prepared to laugh at his jokes because I've heard from too many people that he wasn't funny. Strangely that's the funny part about it to me, the fact that he can draw a crowd, get paid, do stand up and Not be funny, that's pretty damn amazing to me.
Honestly I can just laugh off the sound of his voice all night. Anyway...so Charlie is up there doing his thing and there is a sophisticated looking white women beside us that has just purchased a bottle of wine. *pause* Why are you and only you sipping on a whole damn bottle of wine at a comedy club? Needless to say when she was halfway through, homegirl started heckling. Yep blurting out all the damn punch lines to Charlie's jokes LOL. Apparently she had been to a few of his shows because she damn sure knew what the hell he was going to say next. The bad part about it was she didn't even appear to be trying to be funny LOL. She looked bored as hell and mad because she knew his jokes! LOL, we were cracking up! I don't even think Charlie knew how to address her ass because instead of free styling and roasting her ass he just said "Damn u just gonna burst out my jokes like that". Pahahahahaha! What??!! It's was awkward but funny.

I'm glad I had the hookup on those tickets because it wasn't worth my coins at all. What did ya'll get into?

Mentoring at Youth Community Day

This past Saturday I mentored the youth at the "Worth the Wait" Community Day in Norfolk, VA.

This Campaign's focus was geared towards showing kids alternative's to the negativity surrounding them in the poverty stricken areas in which they reside. The name "Worth the Wait" is self explanatory. The teens were given reasons on why it's important to practice abstinence in an era where the pregnancy rates are extremely high amongst their peers. We enjoyed a fun filled day of dialog, laughs, hugs, talent, food, music and of course mentoring. I was asked to be on the panel of entrepreneurs and share my story of triumph from the projects to my success as an author.

I was thrilled to be a part of this experience. I was even more rewarded at the end of the event because my purpose was to go in there an inspire the kids and I was the one who left inspired. It was rewarding to see that our future is not lost like mainstream news outlets would like you to believe. Those kids had goals and dreams coupled by a purpose and a plan! Yes and a Plan!
They impressed me to another level! I was tickled at some of them because they were a little cocky in their responses to the question "What do you want to do when you grow up and why"? To see that confidence in them made me smile. I smiled because I could tell that a lot of them are going to have amazing contributions to our future.

This was a great event, I can't wait for the next.

Thanks To all of you for a Successful Book Signing Event!

Thanks to every single person that came out and supported my first book signing yesterday! From the moment it began until the moment the celebration ended people were flooding in! So many people showed love and I could never thank you enough!! I had the most awesome time, and I'm truly grateful for the support that everyone showed!! To see the genuine love that I continuously pour out come right back to me had me choking back tears. Some of my guest actually approached me with tears in there eyes as they shared wonderful stories and testimonies on how I have inspired them in one way or another. Just to see and hear how I have made in impact in the lives of so many was very fulfilling and rewarding.

I was shocked and siked to see so many old, new and familiar faces in the building. Shoutout to TracyC for hosting the event and shoutout to all the other authors that were in attendance. Shout out to Diamond Royalty for assisting and always being my backbone. Shoutout to Stephanie from OliveCoCo magazine that stopped through and showed her support! I won't began to shout out names because I don't want to forget anyone but please believe everyone of you are equally appreciated.


Not only did ya'll show up but ya'll showed out!! The 757 stepped in there looking like fresh cut money and you all dazzled the building in your fashions!! To look around and see everyone having a great time made my heart proud, there couldn't have been a more perfect setting. It was literally a PICTURE PERFECT night! I absolutely loved how real the crowd of people I associate myself with are and there wasn't a dull moment because of all the animated personalities LOL!! (including my crazy self LOL). Everything flowed so smoothly and the atmosphere was Super Charged. I felt so blessed.




I chose to wear something I would "wow" my guests with and by your responses, I think I nailed it:) I wanted to be sexy but classy so I opted to go with this mulit-colored fitted dress in the pics that flared out at the knees. It hugged my body perfectly and when I saw it in the store I knew it was hanging there waiting for me. It was the best choice for the occasion. Check out the Ad I did

This is an ad I did for Greek Fashions Clothing Line. The creator of the brand is Issa Bolden and his eye for sexy summer women's tee shirts is very distinct. Greek Fashion is no where near ordinary, these shirts are bold and funky. The one I advertised in the above pic was unique in it's own right. It had a parachute effect at the bottom and flared out at the sides. The material was thin and airy which is perfect for the summer time heat and there are many styles and colors available. Rock it was some short shorts and some supa high heels, a big couture bag and don't forget your accessories. This is an awesome look for just an ordinary day.
